Who Is Clean Conscience Foods?
Growing up in a big Greek Family, there is one thing for sure, Food is a big part of life. But growing up in a big Greek Family that is in the food business, Food is your life. Nick and Niko, founders of Clean Conscience Foods, both were working in their family kitchens at a very young age, and spent a lifetime, over 80 years combined, working with Food. To spend your life doing anything, you must have a Passion for it. Our Passion was always to create the best Food ever. Whether at a family get together or serving the public, there is nothing more rewarding than making people happy with our food. Watching the smiles on their faces and listening to their praise, is the reason we do what we do.
As we and our families got older and started to have health issues, we started educating ourselves on the relationship between the Food we eat and our health. There is a quote by Hippocrates that says: “Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine Be Thy Food”. We took that and ran with it. We started Clean Conscience Foods to make a difference. Our Motto is: Changing the World One Meal at a Time. Our new Passion is to create the healthiest Food on the Planet, but also Food that will put a smile on your face when you taste it.
This Passion is what drives us everyday to stay up to date on Food and Health related research. We are also constantly working to create a bigger variety of great tasting meals for you and your Families to enjoy for years to come.
Why Eat Organic Food?
Organic food has gotten so popular that it’s almost hard to imagine that just a few years ago it was seen as something of a niche market. These days you can hardly walk down a supermarket aisle without finding an organic version of something, be it avocados, floor cleaner, or even dog food.
Eating organic food is a great way to cut out potentially harmful pesticides and herbicides that are used on commercial agriculture, and to avoid food from animals that have been given growth hormones and antibiotics. These chemical additives make their way to consumers through the food we eat, and with organic food you can steer clear.
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are plants and animals that have been put through genetic engineering, in order to make them more resistant to pests and weather, and more productive. Research has found that GMOs have the potential to harm us when we consume them, and by cutting them out you can avoid any health risks they may pose. In addition, studies have found that organic foods are more nutritious - and most of us can agree, more flavorful.
Also, if you’re concerned about conservation, the farming methods used for organic crops are more earth friendly and responsible.
Nonetheless, even with the wide acceptance and mainstream popularity, buying organic produce can still be costly, and not every grocery store really delivers the goods.
“The food you eat can either be the most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison”
Dr. Ann Wigmore
Why Use Clean Conscience Foods?
Buying organic produce can be pricey at times, but partly that’s because it's hard to know how much to buy and the fresh fruit and veggies can go bad before you figure out what you want to make. How many times have you filled your fridge with fresh foods with every intention to make some great meals? Then life got in the way…and a week later you ended up with a bunch of slimy bags of food? Have you ever added up how much money you spent on each bag of rotten food you tossed in the garbage? That wasn’t your imagination. Americans throw out more than 25% of the foods they prepare at home. At Clean Conscience Foods, we package everything up into convenient single-servings, so there is nothing left to waste and you are not spending time, gas and extra money on impulse buys at the grocery store. Naturally, your frozen food will be waiting patiently for you, weeks or months later. So you can have a change of plans, or eat out without wasting a dime. That could translate to saving 25% or more on your grocery bill.
Spare yourself the headache
While cooking at home can save money and be a healthy, at times even therapeutic exercise, it’s not without its hassles. Creating wonderful organic meals for your family can involve multiple trips to the store and can get pricey - especially if you go to the farmer’s market on an empty stomach. And, unless you’re wired with some sort of innate recipe planner, it can be hard to come up with new meal ideas and after a while, things might not feel so fresh. The average American throws away a pound of food every day, and the healthier you eat, the more expensive this becomes.
This is where we, at Clean Conscience Foods, have your back. If you’re trying to build a diet of organic, homemade and truly healthy food, we can make it easier than ever. Having brilliant organic, nutritionally balanced meals at home has never been more convenient. There’s no shame in admitting it - it’s hard to think of recipes or new dinner ideas every night. You may have no clue which extra ingredient can really take a dish to the next level. With Clean Conscience Foods, you don’t have to take a refresher course on organic ingredients or wait for a sudden stroke of inspiration. We provide you with perfectly balanced, healthy and delicious meals in a matter of minutes.
Clean Conscience Foods can also save you the hassle of having to go out and shop for the ingredients, which in the case of organic foods can be more difficult than just popping down to the convenience store. We maintain professional relationships with sustainable partners in order to ensure high quality, seasonal, and farm-sourced produce. We also personally meet on a regular basis with our meat supplier, which is a Ranch in SW Florida. All of our Beef and Bison is Grass Fed and Grass Finished. All poultry is Organic, antibiotic and hormone free. All pork is Wild Florida Hog. The seafood we use is wild caught and fresh from our backyard, the Gulf of Mexico. All of our meals are Sugar free, Grain free, Dairy free, non GMO, no additives, no preservatives, no artificial anything.
You Get What You Pay For
Sorry to disappoint. Unless you are eating veggies straight from the farm, you aren’t getting what you paid for. Grocery store veggies can lose up to 10-75% of their vitamin C after sitting in storage for just one week! After languishing in storage facilities, it might take a few more weeks before your fresh food makes it to the grocery store. Every passing day represents more lost nutrients. But those losses don’t stop when you bag it up and check out. How long does that food spend in your crisper? Right. The clock is still ticking down on those nutrients and quality.
In nature, apples are only ripe once a year. But you can find them available year-round in nearly any store. That year-round availability means that most of the apples at your grocery story have been shipped around the world and/or held in cold storage for months. Some apples can be up to 14 months old. Oh… that explains those dry, mealy apples you sometimes get! But it doesn’t stop at apples. Other more delicate produce like lettuce, tomatoes, and spinach might already be a few weeks old by the time they hit the shelves.
So, how “fresh” is the food you’re eating from your fresh meal prep company? After spending weeks on shelves in storage somewhere, then on the shelves of the meal prep company both before and after cooking and then finally in your fridge, are you really getting what you paid for, even if it was a little cheaper? And they are not spending the money to buy healthy food to begin with.
At Clean Conscience Foods, you do get what you pay for and more. The produce and meats that we purchase do not spend weeks in storage somewhere losing precious nutrients and quality. One reason is because there is not an abundance of these super quality and clean products and secondly because of our relationships with the Farms and Ranch. Our ingredients are delivered to us twice a week as soon as they are picked and processed.
Another reason you get what you paid for is our Blast Freezing process. Our Chefs take the very fresh ingredients as we receive them and do their magic creating mouth watering meals. When these meals are cooked and put together they immediately go into our Blast Freezers, which quickly takes them down to 30 below zero, processed at their peak, before they have any time for their cells to decay. It is like Natures Pause Button. This process locks in the nutrients and quality of every ingredient, so when you pull it out of the freezer and heat it up to eat, it tastes like it just came out of the oven.
Live Your Organic Life
We strive to provide all our delicious recipes at a fair price. Please keep in mind that organic ingredients and higher levels of real protein are more expensive, just as you may experience in your own grocery shopping.
A poll out last week from the Organic Trade Association found a sharp decrease in parents who say price is a key factor limiting their organic purchases. “Parents in charge of the household budget recognize the benefits of organic,” said the trade group’s Laura Batcha. “And they’re willing to pay a little more to know that they are giving their families the highest-quality and most healthy products being offered in their local store.”
We can already hear the organic food naysayers, But the truth is choosing organic-certified foods — when you can and can afford to — is one of the best choices you can make for your Family.
We also know that choosing organic food reduces the risk of exposure to toxic pesticides in our diet. The 2008–09 President’s Panel on Cancer report stated, “The entire U.S. population is exposed on a daily basis to numerous agricultural chemicals.” Many of these chemicals are known or suspected to cause cancer or disrupt our hormones, mimicking testosterone or estrogen, its authors continued. “Nearly 1,400 pesticides … registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for agricultural and nonagricultural uses … have been linked to brain/central nervous system, breast, colon, lung, ovarian cancers … as well as Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma” and more.
While we can’t limit all of our children’s exposures to toxins in the environment, we do have a say in the food they eat. And one of the best ways to limit their exposure to these chemicals is to choose an organic diet. Choosing organic meat and dairy for your kids is also the best way to ensure that they’re not exposed to endocrine-disrupting chemicals like the synthetic hormones given to nonorganic livestock to speed growth and alter reproductive cycles. And choosing organic meat and dairy means your children are not fed meat that was raised on daily doses of antibiotics to speed growth, leading to dangerous antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Organic food is a healthy choice for all of us but especially for kids. Infants and children are particularly vulnerable to chemicals, in part because their immune systems are still developing and in part because, pound for pound, they’re exposed to more chemical residues than adults. Another reason is that children and babies tend to eat a lot more of certain foods than adults — think bananas or apples.
It’s been years since organic grocery shopping meant heading to your local co-op or farmer’s market. Organic food is more mainstream than ever and the benefits to the organic lifestyle have been established. Organic is one of the best choices we can make for the health of our families. We at Clean Conscience Foods have taken note. If you’d like to incorporate more organic food into your diet through delicious recipes made with premium ingredients, there’s a clear way. So take some time to check us out and trust us - you’ll never look back.
